Mesur Iechyd Cymru Terms of Reference
The mission of Mesur Iechyd Cymru is to support the
use of Welsh-medium health and social care research instruments in Wales
and advance methods of translation and validation at a national and international
level.
The aim of the groups is to prioritise, develop, validate
and disseminate Welsh-medium health and social care research instruments
in order to enhance the rigour of research in Wales; respond to the needs
of Welsh speakers; and establish the evidence base for good practice across
bilingual and multilingual settings.
This will be achieved through the following objectives:
- Liaise with industry and academia to raise awareness of the need for
validated Welsh-medium research instruments
- Collaborate with CRC Cymru to prioritize their needs
- Establish frameworks, procedures and resources for developing Welsh-medium
research instruments
- Develop and validate a series of Welsh-medium research instruments that
meet the needs of health and social care researchers
- Establish the evidence base for good practice in the translation of
research instruments and advance methods of development for the bilingual
and multilingual setting
Members will be drawn from across Wales and will represent
the following organisations and professional groups:
- LLAIS
- CRC Cymru Methodology Group
- Translators
- Terminologists
- North Wales Organisation for Randomised Trials in Health (NWORTH)
- South East Wales Trials Unit (SEWTU)
- Involving People
Other members will be co-opted to the group, as appropriate.
Procedures
The co-directors of LLAIS will act as chair and vice-chair to the group.
Meetings will be considered quorate whenever two thirds of members (including
the chair or vice-chair) are present, either in person or by phone/video
link.
