LLAIS Revised Aims and Objectives 2010-2013
During the recent re-commissioning process, WORD was keen to ensure that language awareness is fully integrated into the new National Institute of Social Care and Health Research in Wales (NISCHR). This has led to a revision of some of the key functions of LLAIS; and new ways of working that will directly engage with the Clinical Research Centre (NISCHR CRC).
The main purpose of the revised LLAIS is thus to:
- Liaise with NISCHR CRC in identifying, prioritising, planning and delivering on opportunities for integrating language awareness within the core business of NISCHR CRC.
This will be achieved through the following objectives:
- To collaborate with NISCHR CRC to identify opportunities and priorities for embedding language awareness into the operational management of its core activities.
- To engage with the RPN and RRGs to identify and establish ways of working that enhance language awareness in research and to respond to resource needs, such as Welsh Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
- To collaborate with the Research Professional Network (RPN) and Registered Research Groups (RRGs) to identify and establish best practice approaches to recruiting Welsh speakers to research studies.
- To collaborate with NISCHR CRC to identify and establish ways of enhancing Welsh language awareness in workforce development.
- To collaborate with the NISCHR CRC Training Team to identify the language awareness and language methodology training needs of the research community; develop a bespoke programme of work and integrate elements within the NISCHR CRC Training Programme.
- To collaborate with NISCHR CRC to identify, prioritise, plan and deliver on opportunities for integrating language awareness within the Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) function of NISCHR CRC.
